Anais Zhang is not a person I have known for a long time, but there are some people (even the ones who are quiet on the outside) who you just seem to know and like right away. Anais is one of those people.

Her art was first revealed to me back in March when the Alliance Francaise and Expat9 hosted an exhibition of her work. I had the added priviledge of being there after the exhibition was closed, getting a private tour of her works, and making a photo back-up of each piece.

Here you will see several of her works, and you can also visit Anais' blog here. Enough of my rambling. Here is a little about Anais, and I hope you enjoy July's Artist of the Month.

Anais (Iris) was born in 1973 in Zhuhai (China). From 1992 to 1999 she studied at the Guangzhou Fine Art Academy where she obtained a Master in Oil Painting.

She applies paint using a variety of techniques and styles, her sources of inspirations run from the memories of the landscapes and faces she has witnessed during her worldwide travels (Europe, Tibet, Nepal, USA, South Asia) to old European photographies taken by her great grandfather-in-law.
